Salt Creators
COMING SOON
Salt has been publishing distinctive stories and poems, with care, since 1999. Weâre an independent press, which means every book we take on is one we believe in â and weâd love for the right readers to discover them before anyone else does.
Weâre launching the Salt Creators Programme: a new way of working with UK-based bookstagrammers, BookTokers, booktubers and bloggers who want to read, talk about and share our books with their communities. The programme opens soon â and you can register your interest today.
What we publish
We publish literary fiction, genre fiction, poetry, short stories, children's fiction and non-fiction â new voices alongside prize-winning names such as Louis de Bernières, A.N. Wilson, Tim Pears, Michael Arditti and Erica Wagner. If your content covers crime, historical fiction, horror and the Gothic, literary fiction, or poetry and short stories, there's very likely a Salt title that's right for you:
- Literary fiction â modern and contemporary novels
- Crime, mystery and thrillers â including psychological thrillers
- Historical fiction â and historical romance
- Horror, Gothic and the supernatural
- Science fiction, dystopian and utopian fiction
- Myths, fairy tales and contemporary romance
- Short stories â including our annual Best British Short Stories
- Poetry â individual collections, anthologies and poetry in translation
- Children's and teenage fiction â including fantasy and magical realism
- Non-fiction â biography, memoir, diaries, essays and literary studies
A quick, friendly steer: Salt doesnât currently publish adult epic fantasy, paranormal romance or romantasy, so if thatâs the heart of your content we may not be the best match â though youâre always welcome to follow along.

What youâll get
When the programme launches, members will get:
- Early proofs and advance copies of forthcoming titles, matched to what you actually read and talk about â weâd rather send you one book youâll love than five you wonât.
- Direct access to our authors, where we can arrange it â short Q&As, quote requests, or an introduction ahead of an event.
- A heads-up on events, festival appearances and signings, so you can cover them if theyâre near you.
- First look at cover reveals and key seasonal titles, for creators who work with us regularly.
We wonât have a strict follower threshold. We care far more about thoughtful, genuine content and a real connection to the kind of books we publish than we do about numbers. That said, most creators we work with have an established, active audience â regular posting is what makes this work for both of us.
How it will work
- Register your interest. Email us at creators@saltpublishing.com â let us know your platform(s), handle(s), follower count, and the genres and authors you love. Weâll be in touch as the programme opens.
- Weâll match you with books. Rather than a blanket mailing list, we look at what you actually cover and send proofs that genuinely fit â for a small press like Salt, a good match matters more than a wide net.
- You create, in your own voice. We donât script reviews or require a particular format â we just ask for honesty, a tag or mention of @saltpublishing when you post, and that you make clear the book was gifted (a simple â#giftedâ or âgifted by Saltâ keeps you the right side of the ASA rules).
Most creators will start with digital proofs â physical copies follow once weâve built a bit of a track record together. Physical proofs are UK only; digital proofs we can share more widely at our discretion.

Be first in line
The programme opens soon. To be among the first we contact, write to us at creators@saltpublishing.com with a little about you and a link to your recent content. Please include your platform(s), handle(s), approximate follower count, the genres you cover, and â if youâd like physical proofs â a UK postal address.
Not yet an online creator, but love talking about books? Follow us at @saltpublishing on Bluesky, Instagram and TikTok to keep up with whatâs coming next.
If youâre a journalist or press contact, please get in touch with our publicity team. If youâre a bookseller, see our trade page.
