Dystopian and utopian fiction

Salt’s dystopian and utopian fiction imagines the world pushed slightly – or drastically – out of shape: societies reordered by catastrophe, ideology or quiet erosion, and the individuals who have to find a way to live within them.

Wyl Menmuir’s The Many and Fox Fires unsettle familiar landscapes from within, while Venetia Welby’s Dreamtime and Ian Parkinson’s The Beginning of the End push further into speculative territory. Michael Walters’s The Complex and Tony Williams’s Nutcase round out a list less interested in world-building for its own sake than in what altered worlds reveal about the people living in them.
