Karen Annesen


Karen Annesen grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Selections of her work have appeared in The Like of It (Baring & Rogerson, 2005) and Oxford Poets 2004: An Anthology (Carcanet). She has degrees in Psychology, Housing and Writing, and has taught Creative Writing and worked with homeless women and people with learning disabilities in London and Oxfordshire, where she now lives.

Long biographical note

Karen Annesen grew up a mile from the sea in the town of Falmouth on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She moved to the UK after completing a first degree in Psychology. Work with homeless women and vulnerable adults has taken her from Oxford to Cardiff then London and now back to Oxfordshire. While in London she was also a Creative Writing tutor for the City Lit in London. She has an MPhil in Creative Writing from the University of Glamorgan and an MSc in Housing Policy from Oxford Brookes University. Her work has been published previously in magazines such as PN Review and in anthologies such as Oxford Poets.
