note: Rachel Potter's research interests lie in the area of modernist literature. She helped run the London modernism seminar from 1998-2004, and co-organised both the Modernism in History conference ( Cambridge , 2000) and the Mina Loy conference ( London , 2001). She has published articles on the work of T.S. Eliot, Mina Loy and Laura Riding, and has edited a special 'modernism' issue of Critical Quarterly . Her monograph Unacknowledged Legislators looks at the relationship between modernist poetry and ideas of democracy, with particular emphasis on the poetry of Eliot and Loy. Her next book, Obscene Modernism , will discuss modernist obscenity and censorship in the work of James Joyce, Djuna Barnes, Wyndham Lewis and D. H. Lawrence.
